ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of the college is playing a very important role in developing the entrepreneurial abilities among the students by inculcation, development, and polishing of entrepreneurial skills needed to establish and successfully run his / her enterprise. Three Days Entrepreneurship Development Programmes are conducted on an annual basis in association with Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Chandigarh with an objective to:
To build awareness among the students about alternative options and entrepreneurial opportunities for their career.
To familiarize the students with the Basic requirement of developing self and the opportunities for setting up their own ventures in any field of activity.
To familiarize the students with the various support agencies, their role, functions, schemes and incentives available to start small industrial / service oriented activities.
To motivate the students to consider self-employment as their career option.

ACTIVITIES
2020-21
● A National webinar on ‘Time Management: A Key to Crack Civil Services Exam’ was organized on Jan. 05, 2021 in which 100 students participated. Dr Shashikala Atulkar, Deputy Director, Department of Employment and Training was the keynote speaker.
● The Entrepreneurship and Development Cell In collaboration with the Post Graduate Dept. of Commerce organized a National webinar on Jan. 25, 2021 on the topic ‘How to be a successful GST Practitioner’ Sh. Mastan Singh, the keynote speaker and alumnus discussed the
various ways to become a successful GST practitioner and also explained in detail the GST concepts, its provisions, implications and application of concurrent dual structure prevalent in GST, IGST, CGST SGST (its implication and application).
● In collaboration with the Post Graduate Department of Commerce and Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Entrepreneurship Development Programme was organized from March 18-20, 2021 for the students of the college. The programme was organized under the aegis of the Department of Industries, Chandigarh Administration. The details of the event are given below:
First Day: In the first session, Mr Balbir Singh elaborated the need for entrepreneurship to accelerate the pace of industrialization to balance regional development, creation of employment opportunities and becoming economically independent. Sh. Tarun Banerjee in thesecond session of Day 01 highlighted improving the entrepreneurial competencies to seek the opportunity and take the initiative to transform them into business situations.
Second Day: Mr Paramjit Singh and Dr J.S. Saini addressed the students on the second day of the programme. Mr Paramjit Singh in Session 1 discussed various incentives and government schemes to establish industries particularly in the backward regions of the country. He elaborated on the need to bolster entrepreneurship in India and to assist emerging start-ups financially. Dr J.S. Saini in Session 2 discussed various ways to identify opportunities for business growth and survival and launch their startups with a feasible idea.
Third-Day: Mr. H.D Kohli in the first session of the third day explained the banking sector norms and the ways to access the working capital requirements. In the second half of the session, Mrs. Geeta Mehra explained various ways to identify opportunities giving special reference to food technology.

2021-22
●An Article Writing Competition was organised by Entrepreneurship cell on the topic ‘Women Entrepreneurship’ on December 08, 2021 under the able guidance of Dr. Surinder Kaur, Convenor, EDP Cell, 2021.
● An ‘Online Quiz Competition’ was organised by Entrepreneurship Development Cell for the students of the college on December 07, 2021 under the able guidance of Dr. Surinder Kaur, Convenor, 2021.
● ‘Three-Day Entrepreneurship Development Programme’ was organised by Post Graduate Government College, Sector 46, Chandigarh in collaboration the Cell in collaboration with Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Chandigarh on behalf of Directorate of Industries, UT Chandigarh from 7th March to 9th March 2022 to make them aware about entrepreneurship, its benefits and prospects. Principal of the college, Dr. Abha Sudarshan welcomed the Chief guest of the occasion Mr. Paramjit Singh, Principal Director, RCED, Chandigarh. (3 times national awardee in the field of entrepreneurship). Around 120 students participated in the event . The three day EDP was replete with sessions by industry experts on entrepreneurship. The program concluded under the able guidance of Dr. Surinder Kaur , HOD Commerce and Convenor EDP Cell. Ms. Riju Sharma, Mrs. Pooja Sareen and Dr. Sugandha Mittal coordinated the programme. In the end vote of thanks was proposed by Pooja Sareen, Member, EDP Cell.
ACTIVITIES
2022-23
●The Entrepreneurship Development Cell and the Department of Advertising and Sales Management of Post Graduate Government College, Sector-46, Chandigarh organised an interactive session on November 15, 2022, on the topic “Budding Entrepreneurs.” Alumnus of the college Prashant Sharma, who is successfully running a coaching centre in Chandigarh, was the main speaker. They explained how an entrepreneurial mindset coupled with focus, commitment and the ability to take risks could serve as important ingredients to turn a vision into reality. Furthermore, setting a perfect example of “earning while learning,” Rajat Goyal, a student of BA-III who trades in cooking oil, and Divya Bansal, a student of BA-II who is a chocolatier, freelance content writer and blogger also shared experiences with the students. They motivated students to take on the journey of entrepreneurship, embrace their failures, be persistent and stand up to the challenges of life without fearing the consequences. Nearabout 92 students from various streams attended the session and showed keen interest in enhancing their entrepreneurial skills. In addition, a video highlighting start-ups was also screened for the students. This video threw light on the process of initiating a start up.

Principal, Pggc46. The event was moderated by Pooja Sareen, Member, EDP Cell.
● Entrepreneurship Development Cell and the Department of Commerce of Post Graduate Government College, Sector-46, Chandigarh organised a skill development session on the theme “Entrepreneurship- Courage to implement ideas". As many as 87 students were present in the session. The session was conducted by Mr. Ishwar S Sandhu, senior faculty at Hitbullseye. Mr Sandhu explained how appropriate and right practices of research and development enables an entrepreneur to generate new innovations that opens the door for new ventures, new markets, new products and new product processes. The Principal of the college Dr. Abha Sudarshan applauded the efforts of the entrepreneurship cell. The session was followed by half an hour scholarship test by the Hitbullseye faculty. The event coordinators - Mrs Vandna , Convenor, EDP cell and Dr. Surinder Kaur, HOD , Commerce congratulated Mrs Pooja Sareen and Ms Aditi for successfully organising the event. Dr. Uma Narang and Dr. Mukesh Chauhan also graced the occasion. Lastly a vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs Pooja Sareen, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce and Member EDP cell.
